WHAT ARE THE CRITICAL DATA THAT YOU SHOULD BACK UP?

Nobody is interested in making thousands of backup copies repeatedly and taking up space without limits. Really, what really matters is the critical data, those that are decisive for the company, not having a saved copy of a Word file that we open to make a quick outline of a meeting. That's not smart backups; is to save disposable information that we will never need anymore.

If we want to make intelligent backups , we must first of all identify what is the critical data of our company. They can be in the system of a file on our desktop, or be hosted on the server of a web application with which we are working. But it's all critical data and belongs to our business. Let's see

Critical data to back up online

•Windows Backup. Obviously, if we do not have a backup copy of our operating system, we run the risk that if the computer stops working and we must restore the system, we cannot install Windows again. All Microsoft systems allow you to make a copy of Windows.

•Website and blogs. The sales and income we obtain through the Internet depend on the web. We are talking about very critical information. If we do not have a backup copy of the web, a small error, or the action of a hacker who enters our server, can ruin everything. The same for blogs and mobile applications; we have invested money in that. It should not be considered unimportant.

•Management programs in the company. Whether we use applications in the cloud, or if we use a licensed program on our computer, we must have a backup. Losing the program, or the files or databases containing critical business information, could spell a fiscal and management catastrophe for our business.

•Product databases: catalogs and inventories, warehouse databases, current and past budgets, all this information is relevant because it may be needed again. And the consequences of its disappearing can be serious. If for any reason, your product catalog is damaged, your POS will no longer function properly.

•Social media - There are many social media related apps that you should have a backup of. For example, if you have a CRM with data stored about your customers. In addition to the fact that you must ensure their privacy, losing this information due to a computer problem would have serious strategic consequences for the company, since it is very difficult to recover.

Make sure to make an automated backup , on a different server from where the data is hosted, and above all, that it is easily accessible so that you can recover it in the shortest possible time. What other data do you consider critical in your company? What other information do you consider essential? Leave us your comment here.
